From Comfort Zone to Goal Achievement: Working Backwards

Small Steps, Giant Leaps & Working Backwards: A Strategy for Personal Growth

I have been doing a lot of research on and giving a lot of thought to the Comfort Zone. Did you know that 95% of Americans are sitting in their Comfort Zone? This is the place where they feel safe because it is a place that is easy and requires little effort.

Working Backwards to Achieve Your Goals

The most ambitious among us are guilty of sitting in the Comfort Zone from time to time too. I know there were plenty of times in my life where I was plopped on that couch in my Lululemon pants and a pair of fuzzy slippers - likely a glass of wine or a cup of tea too (depending on the day!). We sit here in the Comfort Zone because we feel paralyzed by how far our goal is from where we are and frankly, it's just really nice sometimes not taking action.

But, does it really help us become the best version of ourselves?

One of the techniques I have mastered over the years is seeing a long-term goal and working backwards to achieve it by setting a plan where I take one small step every day to move me closer to the goal. This strategy is a simple way to tackle a very large goal by breaking it into bite-sized pieces. But, it requires seeing a larger picture for yourself and having the confidence to take that first step. Many small steps every day lead to large, effective, and wonderful leaps that will truly change your life.

How do you break down your goals?
